FRIDAY 16 APRIL 2010.
The 2010 EIA Annual General Meeting was held at The Thistle Haydock, Warrington in the Chester Room.
In keeping with previous years, the EIA Golf Tournament was held in the morning at the nearby Ashton-in Makerfield Golf Club.
Once again, the overall winner of the Eddie Porter cup was Mr Todd Littlehales of Haysite UK Ltd and the prize for the shot closest to the pin went to Mr Nolan
During the meeting, Mr Phil Baker (Mekufa Ltd) debriefed members present on a recent ERA Industry Summit he attended in London on behalf of the Association.
It was clear from the data presented that the decline in manufacturing output over the past 15 years has been very marked and Mr Baker urged members of the association to consider registering for a web campaign at www.votemanufacturing.com if they are concerned about the future of UK manufacturing.
After the meeting there was an interesting and lively presentation by John Stanworth from Barclays Bank on the economy, how we got where we are today and the outlook as we commence 2010. The presentation prompted a number of detailed and lively questions which were ably answered by John, who gave an interesting insight into the current position of financial institutions and political pressures they are under to lend money to small and medium sized business.
The meeting was followed by a dinner at the Hotel attended by 17 members and guests.
