27 September 2017
On 27th Septemeber 2017 the EIA held their Autumn meeting in the Salmon Suite of the Holiday Inn Birmingham North, Cannock, followed by a hot buffet lunch served in the hotel restaurant. The meeting was well attended and there was good participation in a full agenda.
Following the meeting, members transferred to the Veolia waste recycling power plant for what proved to be a very interesting and informative meeting.
Veolia Environmental Services opened this 26 MW waste to energy facility in May 2014. It will process around 300,000 tonnes of residual waste each year in Staffordshire. The facility was developed as a part of Staffordshire County Council’s target of sending zero waste to landfill, while maximising recycling.
