The next general meeting will be held in Hinkley at the Partridge Suite of the Atkins Building on Wednesday 22ndy January 2020. Following lunch, we will visit and tour the Triumph Motorbike factory, a trip which is expected to be very popular amongst members.
The 2019 social event was held in at the Royal Victoria Hotel in Llanberis. Llanberis, originally founded on the slate quarrying, industry is now very much the base for walkers enjoying the Snowdonia National Park.
Members and their partners were invited to dinner and enjoyed guest speaker John Sherlock, the head custodian of Carnarfon castle who covered its place in history since the 12 century.
After a much needed nights sleep, the party enjoyed a journey up Snowdon on the Mountain Railway, despite the weather at the top being poor and the café and summit being rather crammed.
The second general meeting of 2019 was held and it was afloat for the first time.
Members boarded the River King Cruiser on the river Ouse for the meeting followed by lunch and a narrated sightseeing cruise.
It is clear however that the main goal of the meeting was met with the secretary receiving very positive feedback that the environment provided the ideal setting for networking
The 2019 AnnualGeneral Meeting was held on 12th April at the The Mercure Hotel Haydock.
8 members opted to start the day early, competing for the Eddie Porter Trophy in the Associations annual golf competition. Favoured by a cold but sunny morning the competition was played in the proper manner and enjoyed by all.

The Eddie Porter Trophy was later presented by Chairman, Andrew Turner, at the meeting.
The business of the meeting was followed by a very interesting and enthusiastic presentation of the Tom Eland Memorial Lecture by Heather Wright of Advance Performance. Heather has spoken around the word to major multi national organisations and the EIA are grateful for her agreeing to speak to us.

The well attended 2018 Social Event was held at the impressive Oulton Hall outside of the City of Leeds.
The evening started with a Gin Tasting hosted by distiller Spirit of Harrogate which was followed by an excellent 3 course meal with wine and other drinks flowing at the free bar until late.
After a hearty breakfast many members and partners visited the Royal Armouries, with access via the free water taxis from the City centre.

Webster-Wilkinson Ltd hosted a seminar covering a wide range of topics related to the manufacture and theory behind the necessity for Bushings. The seminar was held at the Holiday Inn Telford TF3 4EH and lunch, was served at the Hotel, followed by a tour of Webster Wilkinson Factory in Telford
This free event, was supported by the Association, in order to help inform and educate members of the Association as well as engineers, quality (QC/QA) personnel and asset managers from our Industry.

kA Testing Ltd held an Open Day at their premises in New Basford Nottingham on Wednesday 23rd May
During the Open Day EIA Members and their CUSTOMERS visited a well-equipped, UKAS accredited test facility, to see first hand the specific testing which kA Testing Ltd, an EIA Member, can offer including:
Electrical – Particle Discharge, Lightning Impulse & Power Frequency.
Mechanical – Tensile, Compression, Flexural, Impact, Charpy, Izod, Static Load, Torsional, Shock Load
Environmental – Salt Spray, Accelerated Aging, Climatic, Ingress Protection.
Flammability – Flame and Glow Wire.
Demonstrations of several of the tests, felt most relevant to our industry, were demonstrated during the tour.
The seminar was followed by lunch at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel Nottingham.

The 2017 social event was held in the vibrant city of Liverpool at the centrally positioned Hard Days Night Hotel, a Beatles themed hotel renowned for its quality. Members enjoyed a complimentary champagne reception in Hari’ s bar followed by a presentation by leading authority Joseph Sharples on the history of Liverpool through its architecture, before enjoying dining in the Hard Days Night Suite.
Accommodation was provided in the hotels Luxury rooms including breakfast.

The EIA Autumn Social Event was held in the 4* Bailbrook House, a Grade II listed property, set within 20 acres of private grounds, with commanding views towards central Bath and the countryside.
As usual, by a free bar for guests, was available from 6 pm and 7 pm, the guests were entertained by a talk on Bath by an enthusiastic representative of ‘Tailored Walking Tours’. Dinner, preceded by champagne was served in the Lansdowne room. Up to two couples were given complimentary entry from each Member company and 39 people attended.
On the Saturday morning, many of the guests took advantage of one of those walking tours, although those who left it later in the day took a soaking for their troubles and had to take refuge in a local hostelry
