WEDNESDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER 2015
The meeting took place in the visitor centre at 10.30 am. Refreshments were provided from 10 am onwards and a buffet lunch after the meeting was over. A guided tour of Heysham 2 with its two nuclear reactors and 660 MW generators was arranged in the afternoon. Security regulations were very thorough and required photographic ID to be provided before joining this tour. The tour guides had an exceptional knowledge of both technical and historical details. The view of the top of the reactors while refuelling took place was an extraordinary sight. The visit was acknowledged as providing a fascinating insight into this form of power generation.
